President reasserts nuclear warfighting doctrine: |
| On December 6, 1997 the
Washington Post reported that President Clinton had issued new nuclear guidelines which
reaffirmed that nuclear weapons would remain the cornerstone of U.S. defense policy. The
"revised" policy would leave nuclear weapons systems on alert, retain the option
of first use, and solidify policies of masive retailation and threat or use against
threats of chemical and biological weapons. LCNP has drafted a letter, calling on President Clinton to change the
policy. Please sign, and ask others to sign, including leaders of churches, civic
organizations etc... and return to LCNP (lcnp@lcnp.org).
We will forward all letters to the President.
